I graduated with a degree in History. So, a couple teaching points: Where did the term "fascism" come from? Answer, from the "Fascist Party of Italy, ie; Mussolini's Party. What does it mean? Mussolini wanted to restore the glory that was once Rome. In ancient Rome, the symbol of power was a bundle of rods, the "fascie" with an ax head head embedded within. It symbolized the power of the Roman Republic. Since Mussolini's party was elected to power years before Hitler was appointed German Chancellor in 1932, the term "fascist" came to be an expression of a totalitarian government. Of course the adoring media of the time failed to see the same faults in Soviet Russia. So- called "right" or "left" wing movements are peas in a pod when it comes to suppression and desire for total control over others. Not sure what sources you are reading but I suggest a broader curricula.
