Dr. Smirnoff is capable but a bit cold and stand offish, IMO.

Dr. Nieves is wonderful but had long wait times for an appointment when I last saw her a couple of years ago.

I agree that upon first meeting Dr. Smirnoff he can easily come across as being 'cold and stand offish'...he comes from Russia. That said, after a few visits you get to see the personal side of him and he'll share personal stories. However what we like most about him is that he's really darn good at what he does

I grade my physicians on how competent they are, are they on top of their game, are they constantly going to the right seminars to stay current.

I actually discontinued going to an Ophthalmologist because every time I met with him he wanted to tell me the latest jokes that he had heard...I never felt that he was serious
