My 3 foot by 5 foot flag is on display 24/7/365. When the sun goes down, a floodlight comes on so that it is illuminated and seen. I replace it periodically when the colors become faded or tattered from the weather. When that happens, it is folded in the required manner and given to the American Legion for proper disposal. I then proudly display its replacement.

By the way, for all you veterans out there -

It used to be that only members of the American Legion or VFW were authorized to use the military hand salute when honoring the flag. In 2009, the United States Congress passed a bill authorizing all military veterans in civilian clothing to use the military hand salute when the flag passes by in a parade, the Pledge of Allegiance is being recited or any ceremony where the flag is being raised or lowered. In 2013, this was expanded to include the playing of the National Anthem. There is no need to uncover when saluting.

The purpose of this act was to demonstrate the respect that veterans maintain for the flag and for the public to see how many men and women are military veterans. Stand with pride - let the people know that you served.
