Must be sign of the times - some folks showing their "less patriotic" sides since Nov 2016>>>

Can't be that their flags are worn out...IS IT?

'We refuse to celebrate': July 4th protesters say not all Americans are free"

CHICAGO — Not all Americans are kicking back to watch fireworks to celebrate independence this holiday weekend.

Amid thousands of protests against police brutality and a pandemic that has disproportionately ravaged communities of color, many people planned to spend Fourth of July drawing attention to what they say is a hypocritical celebration of freedom...

The Independence Day holiday "doesn’t really mean anything when Black people weren't free on July 4th and those same liberties weren't afforded to us," said Kerrigan Williams, co-founder of Freedom Fighters D.C., who has been co-organizing marches in the city for at least three weeks.

"Independence for people of color has not been part of our livelihood. We’re constantly murdered, harassed because of police brutality all over the country. The concept of freedom does not seem to come to our doorstep, even though we've been here 400 years," Yosef said. "We look it as an abomination to recognize anything that comes with the Fourth of July."

No, in fact I see more flags out for more holidays and rememberences. At least in the Villages.
I understand the frustration the Black community is making for their plight....but I don't understand their method of expression. Too many want this and want that, but are not trying to correct the problem. It is evident that one of the roots of the problem is the 'fatherless family' setting, not slave owners from 200 years ago. The US politicians have been throwing law after law and entitlement after entitlement at the problem but little has changed, in fact much has become worse since many of the entitlements become a 'free' crutch for their existance. If racism is so rampant in the US, why have so many Black citizens become so well entrenched and successful in our society....even those from very poor back grounds? The riots and looting and burning just undermines any thing that is being said. Singling out the 'bad cops' as the reason for their actions is no more authentic than singling out the bad criminal members of the Black community as the norm. When both sides have open discussion and stop calling each other names, progress can over come.
