Woodrow Wilson deserves all the opprobrium being heaped on him. Far from being a great president, he was an unabashed racist who re-segregated the U.S. civil service and thought the wrong side had won the civil war. Both his writings and contemporary reporting verify that.
I think it's inappropriate to judge a historical figure by today's standards "Washington and Jefferson owned slaves, so all the great things they did must be erased." It is quite another to judge a historical figure by standards existing when the person was alive, and by that measure Wilson fails.
