I have seen "FactChecks" on Facebook that I personally was glad to see. When someone issued a statement, quoted from another source that was incorrect, blatantly incorrect, they would put up a "fact checker". Trying to think of an example.

Maybe someone else can. There are many rumors that are spread as fact online that are just plain wrong. FaceBook doesn't issue a "fact check" over someone's opinion but rather over an article that was quoted as fact that was incorrect. Usually not over anything political or religious or really highly controversial. I have seen several people corrected that needed to be corrected...and of course they still thought they were right.

Facebook doesn't do it often. I invite all people frightened to be part of Facebook to try it. It is wonderful to see friends and relatives that you haven't seen in years and pictures of their children and some of it is very annoying as well, as when a family member posts a political meme you don't agree with....... but it is something interesting to do...and not dangerous like some people think. Follow the rules of common sense and don't open private messages on Facebook. I can't help you if you buy things. Just don't buy things and wave to a few cousins who may be like mine and a LOT of fun.
