After long consideration. we have came to the conclusion that we owe it to our community to write about our experience with Jason Schmidt Landscaping.

Our ($12,000) project was quoted at the end of June last year and started the 1st of August. We had reviewed several projects completed by this company and were comfortable with what we saw and heard. Unfortunately we found their quality of knowledge and workmanship had changed dramatically.

I will list in order the issues we experienced.

1. The young man assigned to be the team leader on our project was inexperienced and we found later had never been in charge of a project before .He has since been released from the company and spoken of poorly by employees we have had contact with.
It was apparent from the beginning he and his crew were not competent to do the hardscape work quoted. We had several conversation with him about " straight lines" which he ignored. As a result our landscape walls had to be re-worked twice. Several caps have been glued over several times and some are still loose. The square corners of the wall caps were cut improperly and did not meet. The grade of the walls was not leveled before installing or when re-worked.

2. We allowed the landscaper to pick the plants without our being present and were disappointed with the quality. We have since discovered we were overcharged for our Italian Cyprus trees. We were told there was a shortage on the trees and planting would be delayed when in fact many much less expensive and nicer trees were available locally but the landscaper did not want to use them.

3. We have had 2 competent landscape companies look at our finished project who have confirmed our thoughts about the poor work in hardscape and design. The only way to really fix the walls properly will be to totally remove and re-set at considerable cost.

4. The reason the wall caps will not stay glued is primarily due to the the underlying base being moved to correct the lines of the walls so the caps are set forward and the glue is only on the rear of the caps.

In summary, the landscaper has agreed the project was done poorly and totally unacceptable, but has only agreed to recut and replace some of the corners, replace some broken caps, and re-glue several caps ( 4 times ). This has been ongoing for almost a year and we still have loose caps and crooked walls. I have never been contacted by the owner of the company to offer an apology and most certainly no cost forgiveness. Based on the poor quality of work, lack of project accountability, and total lack of apparent concern, we would not recommend using Jason Schmidt Landscaping.
