Very sad news. He was a semi-regular guest on talk shows since he retired, particularly Kimmel, and I noticed he hadn't been on for a long time.

I stopped watching "Live" after he left. Never once in thousands of episodes did he ever phone it in or be less than enthusiastic, lively, and engaged.

Today I rewatched some of his old appearances on Letterman because those two always made me laugh.

I'm sure Notre Dame, his old high school, and many other charities are also mourning the loss of their benefactor.
