Of course what you are selectively picking are quotes from a full 4 months ago to fit your agenda which is like the beginning of history WRT this situation. As time moves on one would HOPE that things would be learned and opinions updated from new SCIENCE and practices. One would hope that procedures and understanding would change because of what has been learned. First of all, I did not produce this comparison of 57 flu to coronavirus, a scientist named Balloux did, the same scientist who sequenced the coronavirus genome.
The facts speak for themselves, the fatality rates for the two diseases are virtually the same (0.65% and 0.67%) and the deaths per million are also very close. The 57 flu killed far more people per capita worldwide than covid 19 has so far (383 vs 84 per million) So the statement by Fauci and Redfield is a viable description, coronavirus is similar to a severe seasonal influenza.
