Default "Coast to Coast" Jewelry Repair

"Coast to Coast" and "Gold in Art" Jewelers both advertise that they do jewelry repair.

I took an inexpensive earring to Gold in Art to have a broken hinge pin replaced on the clasp. The jeweler told me that he couldn't do it because he didn't know what kind of metal the earring was made of. Seriously? If he didn't want to repair it, he could have just told me that. I don't know much about jewelry, but I don't believe a real jeweler can't replace a hinge pin because he doesn't know what metal to use.

I went to Coast to Coast and they replaced the pin for $16. I probably could have fixed it with a paper clip, but it was worth the $16.
