We had quotes for canvas and an awning. Neither company was impressive. I had heard of SIP panels but White Aluminum said they were not allowed, then said they could take down the bird cage, and put up an awning for $23,000. I was told to call Simplex Aluminum in Mt Dora. The owner came out and spent considerable time taking photos and measurements and said he would send a quote via email. When he did they quoted $5300 and would simply replace the upper screen, add some additional structural components, and the roof would be three inch SIP (structural insulated panel). Further, the company said that engineering would ensure that their work met all codes, including hurricane winds, and that they would pull all necessary permits. We are exceptionally happy. The house is much cooler, the roof does not leak, and we can sit outside whenever we want even in the rain - unless it is blowing sideways.
