I've been buying and selling on Ebay for over 20 years. I've sold about 30k worth of stuff in all that time.
I never sell anything on Ebay unless it really doesn't have much value to me to begin with. I have a lot of engineering parts from old projects, like Servos, gear motors, etc, plus some computer stuff like older video cards, etc. About 1 in 20 sales, the buyer name is gibberish, like GG22h11 and the account signed up the same day. I ship the same day, so this tells me it's a stolen Paypal account and experience tells me to cancel the order.
That said, I will check on Ebay for buying if the item is new and I'm willing to wait longer than prime. There are a bunch of good vendors with 10s of thousands or more of positive feedback. Place the order and it usually shows up and you save a few bucks.
To compare Ebay to Amazon prime is akin to comparing the Markets of Marion to Walmart and Target. Sure, you might find the same stuff, but Ebay is all different vendors where Amazon Prime, is for the most part stocked by Amazon. Some Amazon marketplace vendors do match prime shipping, but I've found that to be hit or miss. Unless it's actually prime or fulfilled by Amazon, I will look elsewhere.
