Default Medicare Compare Nursing Homes

Thanks for this information. Some good info but seems to be very limited on the number of facilities listed. When I put in zip code 32162 I get 23 results and some are in Ocala. Anyone know of another site that shows ratings?

As you narrow your search, you can go to medicare.gov for information on inspections, staffing, quality, and overall rating. The nursing homes are rated with stars in the various categories.

When you go to the medicare.gov site, you might need to use the search box on the opening page. Just type in “nursing homes“ and that will take you to “Nursing Home Compare” where you put in the zip code or city or name of the facility, and then it will take you to the information.

As you look through a list, you might see a red circle with a hand in the middle, next to some of the names. That symbol means the facility has been cited for abuse.

The site is helpful, though the design is rather awkward, involving lots of scrolling and clicking around — but could certainly be well worth using to get more information as you make such an important decision.
