Okay let me analyze your statement. First of all, he/she could not fit in the officers shoes and could never do his job. As for someone calling this officer a coward - well, sorry I can't reply to that statement on this site. Secondly, let's imagine this person going through what the officer went through. Suspect resists arrest; suspect has a knife; suspect crawls into car. The only time I would crawl into a car is if I had way too much to drink or I was looking for something. Suspect is told to stop over a dozen times. He was probably reaching for something or appeared to be reaching for something. Cop shoots. The person you responded to, on the other hand, would have probably handled it differently and said (with his/her gun holstered), "sir we're trying to arrest you, how does that make you feel?" And that would have probably been the last thing he/she said. But we would never have heard about that because it would not have made the news.
