Default Possible Sick Bat on lawn. Should I call health dept or let the vultures get it?
We have this little bat who often makes a home under our closed umbrella. Whenever I open it I shake it a couple times and he flies away. Today I went to open the umbrella (which is over my grill) and s/he was there. As usual I shook it and instead of flying away it just fell or maybe glided to the ground. Then I GENTLY broomed it off the patio onto the grass and it is just lying there slowly moving it's wings. I know I shouldn't touch it but should health dept be called in case it is rabid or just leave it for the big birds. Health Dept is closed today.
