Some of the single riders didn't care where they drove, not returning to cart paths near the greens, driving through garden areas and even through sand traps. Yes I do work at a champ course and have witnessed these behaviors first hand. Like all aspects of a group, a vast majority care about the courses and how they leave them but there has been a growing number of bad apples in this single cart era who could give a rip and do whatever they want to.
So, you’re basically saying that they’re punishing us who have good golf etiquette for those that don’t? The timing is VERY SUSPECT! We now have ambassadors who no longer dispense water and rarely give out sand. So, when these ambassadors see bad course behavior, what actions do they take? They may mention it to the individual, but unable to take any actions beyond that. So, what we have are rules that can’t be enforced. There are no consequences to bad course behavior/etiquette.

Also, the opening of the squares is right in line with my thinking, too. Hmmmmmm.....
