If someone in your home has a lot of hair and uses a blow dryer after a hot shower and leaves the bathroom covered with sweat, a ceiling fan is a great idea. Bear in mind that ceiling fans are heavy and have to be connected to a special kind of electrical light fixture, like this, which can be done without going into the attic:

(I’m assuming that you are replacing a ceiling light in the middle of the ceiling and that it has a switch near the door. Would you replace it with a fan and light combination or with just a fan? Usually there’s a chain to turn the light on and off and to turn the fan on and off. If you are okay with pulling a chain when you want the ceiling fan, that’s fine. If you want to be able to turn on each separately from a wall switch, you will need an electrician to run an extra wire through the attic and add another switch box. This isn’t all that cheap. If you don’t have a ceiling light now, you will again need an electrician to run the wiring.)
If you’ve installed ceiling fans before, you know you need something sturdy to stand on, and you need a sizable amount of upper body strength. They are ungainly. It’s a do-it-yourself project, but you have to know how and have the strength.
