As previously mentioned, just get the model number off of the back.
Google it, with "screen blacks out with sound" or whatever your particular TV is doing.
(you might need to fiddle with the wording for more results)
These things are Lego's...
The parts are cheap, and there's probably a step-by-step youtube video to walk you through it.
If you can operate a Philips screwdriver, I'm confident that just about anybody can remove and plug in a new part. If not, ask a 'handy' friend to help you out...
(un-plug the TV from the wall FIRST)
If not, put it on the "classifieds" listing the problem...
Bet somebody will pick it up...rather than putting it in the 'landfill'.
