If the State of Florida had not made changes the companies would have left Florida and not offered any property insurance. There was so many sinkhole claims being filed and properties not being repaired. It was as bad as the roof claims going on today. You still have the opportunity to purchase sinkhole coverage For an additional premium. There will always be something because people area always looking for something free. The sad part is honest, ethical consumers end up paying in the long run.
Due to population growth (more construction) there are more windstorm claims in Florida (more dollars paid out for claims) which drives premiums up.
