OP, look at your deed restrictions, in general anything to the outside of the house or outside the house needs approval, now having stated that, there are minor items that do not need approval, like plants in existing landscaping. Also, the deed restriction are different in different CDDs, pink flamingos are allowed in some areas, and definately not allowed in others.
