Put yourself in the shoes of the WHITE indentured servants that were before the black slaves. Sorry, but everyone has an excuse for bad behavior if they search for justification and rationalization. The law does not stipulate ethnicity. Believe me when I say that honest, law abiding Americans of any color or gender want law enforcement, not pity from those that feel they are better than them. If you wish to empathize with a minority, try empathizing with those that are law abiding and are embarrassed by the thuggery of the criminal element.

It IS true that society needs law enforcement. But, they want unbiased law enforcement, not shoot-em-up cowboys with disregard for human life. Most Police are fine individuals......but......there are some that are BAD apples, to begin with. There are some that become jaded after years in the job (that is almost human nature) and should be given desk jobs. And many departments are controlled by OVERLY strong unions. That has been mentioned on this forum before.
Both Police and Military individuals at all levels have a tendency when putting on a uniform to take on an attitude of superiority. They can lose sight of humility and empathy. There are exceptions of course but these particular individuals covet power over others and the uniform gives them that power. Not saying that it is everyone or even rampant, but it does happen. After History like Jim Crow and current events like the Floyd murder, Black and Brown people are afraid of Police in uniform. Also Kent State with respect to the military.
In the future, when robotic Police are perfected, the fear of harm to themselves will be eliminated. They can be programmed with techniques of social science also. In the meantime, the combination of bad Cops and civilians with mental problems will persist. It is a problem that needs to be solved. The US needs to look at other more successful countries for answers. But, that rarely happens!
