Whether the story you cited is true or not, I don't know. I seem to recall hearing something like that....but, I believe the other side was that the woman was so difficult to deal with that TV finally gave up and bought her out.

Regardless, this incident is extremely isolated. TV sells thousands of new houses every year (yep, probably even more than 2,000 in the 2008 slow year) and they have the building and warranty process down to a science. Sure, there are problems....I've heard builders say before there is no such thing as a perfect house. But, they are extremely responsive and efficient in making repairs. In my opinion, the warranty process is a plus rather than a minus when deciding whether to buy new or pre-owned.
