We got a Pella slider installed from Lowe's that goes out to our birdcage, which has a sliding screen. We keep the screen open for most of the year, but in the cooler winter months we close the screen and leave the slider open all the time. There is nothing like the beautiful fresh cool air circulating through the house, it beats running the A/C. The slider keeps the critters out of the house that still manage to somehow get into the birdcage. The only problem with keeping the slider open is that we often get woken up earlier than we would prefer in the morning, sometimes by birds and other times by landscapers. When the slider is closed, the noise usually does not wake us up. We just got a nice queen size inflatable mattress so we can sleep out in our birdcage this winter next to our pool, can't wait. We absolutely enjoy being outside in the fresh air.
