Yes they are known to have plugging problems due gravity having to force air up and out the roof. Imo should be cleaned out about every 3 years depending on how much you wash. Mine real easy, vent out the garage wall behind the dryer low to ground and the vent tube only about foot long going through the wall.

if the issue is gravity it can be solved by having a tin duct with an inducer motor to propel the exhaust up and out
one of my former tasks.
