Many years ago I was talking to a friend who was a few years older than I. We were discussing at that time what was the doomsayers "current" talking point of the day. He gave me these words of wisdom I have taken to heart over the years:
He said, during the Korean War, there was a lot of talk about the end of the world and nuclear devastation as a possible escalation of the war. . He went on to recount that for over a year he worried about the current events to the point that it effected how he lived his life. One day on reflecting about the last year of his life and what he had missed by his myopic view of things due to his worries he came to the realization that it was all for naught.
I came away from this conversation with the philosophy that one should plan for the future, but live each day and not worry that the world might end tomorrow. People live, people die, you have no control over when your time is up. ENJOY LIFE TODAY. Visit friends and family, don't die lonely regretting that you lived in a prison you made for yourself.
