We vacationed a week in Maine a few years back. I was looking forward to it especially for the lobster.

I have to say that lobster for breakfast, lobster for lunch and lobster for dinner got a little old. Even McDonald's served lobster meals and advertised it on their marquee.

The Villages Florida

It was very hard finding a restaurant that served beef or chicken. (Kinda like trying to find a restaurant up here in Michigan that serves alligator or crawfish.) Everything was lobster. We found Maine to have mainly small, privately owned restaurants with lobster as their specialty. To this day, lobster that was once a favorite of mine is no longer a favorite. Perhaps it was because we stayed in the resort town of York Beach and every place was catering to tourists with their lobster menus.

I do have to say that Maine is a beautiful state and I was in awe of the beautiful lighthouses. Some of the highlights of our trip were spending a day on a charter fishing boat, seeing ex-President Bush on the waters in his boat surrounded by Secret Service, going moose hunting in the Moosehead Lake region, and touring Kennebunkport.

We vacationed over July 4th and couldn't swim in the ocean because it was sooooo cold! Perhaps the cold was unusual but that's what we experienced.
