How to install a battery tender Junior on my gas golf cart battery

I purchased a battery tender Junior for use on my gas golf cart because if I don't drive it weekly I lose the charge. I tried to install the ring terminal accessory cable myself but found that the hole in the ring is not large enough to go over the bolt on the side of the battery.

Has anyone else had this problem? The only solutions I thought of were to possibly enlarge the center of the ring or replace it with one with a larger hole. I'd also like to make it a u-shaped connection so I don't need to remove the bolt to install it.
