Only a small portion of The Villages lies in Lake County and it includes the cities of Leesburg and Tavares. The same can be said for Marion county which include Ocala. Most of The Villages lies in Sumter County and the Federal Prison is also in Sumter County.

I would assume that the majority of these cases are in the largest cities and the prison. I would also think that only a small number of those 226 cases were in The Villages.

I have a friend whose wife tested positive. He also got test and was positive. They went back a few days later to be retested and were both negative. Were their positive results counted as new cases?
In addition to the countywide new cases on the dashboard, the daily “state report” on the FLDH COVID website, just below the dashboard, lists total cases to date in cities within each county. It doesn’t break out new cases each day like the county dashboard does, so you have to compare the prior and current day reports to figure the new day’s cases in each community.

Comparing Monday’s and Tuesday’s reports, page 9 of the state reports show that 17 of yesterday’s 33 Sumter cases were within The Villages. One in Marion County was in TV, and none in Lake. I write down the three TV numbers each day to make the day-to-day comparisons, or use TV-News article numbers.

The recent 157-case jump in TV exceeded the counties’ new cases those two days, so I’m assuming there was a “test data dump” from a lab in TV. There was a huge statewide data dump several months ago from one lab that spiked the total FL numbers by several thousand cases one day.
