Back in the meet market days, remember those, one of my good friends would lie about her job when she first met a guy. Not only was she an English major, she was an English teacher. The dreaded of all the dreaded cliches so most people think.
So anyway, once he got past, "Hey Baby, what's your sign?" the next question might be, "Where do you work?"
And so help me, she lied every time she was interested. She would say that she worked for the phone company. She knew that if she told the guy that she was indeed an English teacher, he would just move down at least 2 or 3 barstools.
True story from long, long ago.
