In the distant past, I ran a couple of high-end audio specialty stores. I became a bit of an audiophile (some call it "audio-fool") then and it's never left me. To my trained ears, I've never heard a soundbar I could live with. My wife, on the other hand, would be fine with the speakers built into the TV. A grand would be about the average of what
each of my speakers run and that doesn't count the much more expensive A/V receiver that powers them. Heck, I've got a full surround system in my man-cave just for TV and video games. Being a snob can be pricey!
