These videos weren't just reporters. So don't bother with the "fake news" nonsense, if that's where you think to go next. They were people who were doing the attacking, bragging about it on their own cell phones and streaming live on various social media.

As for the OP - we need to remember that there is very little that happens anywhere in Washington DC that doesn't have a camera aimed at it. There are cameras everywhere - not just in government buildings, but in the local 7-11 (or facsimile thereof), the library, the parking lots, hotels. Every computer is monitored - including the one in your personally owned luxury townhouse in Georgetown.

You think Santa is the only one who sees you when you're sleeping? Try living in DC. They see EVERYTHING. They can ID everyone, and they can track anyone.

Whether they are able to act on everything is another matter entirely - but don't think for a moment that they don't know who did what and for what reason. They know.
You are exactly correct. At least we can be thankful for the low IQ terrorists who videotaped themselves and stopped to take selfies, as they were committing very serious federal crimes. I am also sure that it will be eventually proved that a number of the cops whose job was protecting our lawmakers, plus maybe even some of their supervisors - were part of it.
