He suggested window locks (cheap & easy to install), a deadbolt and peephole for the door from the laundry room to the garage, peephole for the front door, and locking out the garage door (just gotta remember to switch it back to unlock). He also showed us that having a dowel in the sliding door at the bottom is not enough. The bad guys can simply jimmy the lock and then lift the door out of the track. The trick for that is to insert a dowel into the space just above the door where it just rides up there.....impossible to lift the door out of the track then.
