The amount suggested, 100,000mg, is about 1 million times the possibly unsafe amount of vitamin D. A doctor *MIGHT* prescribe that much but let that guidance come from your doctor!
See this page for more information on safe and unsafe dosing.
The math:
1mg = 1000mcg
1mcg = 40 IU
4,000 IU /day = possibly unsafe level
100,000mg = 100,000,000mcg = 4,000,000,000 IU = 4,000 IU * 1,000,000

4000IU is NOT an unsafe level. Doctors will prescribe higher if deficient. Seniors do not process vit D via sunlight as well as younger folks so many if not the majority of seniors need to supplement vit D.
"According to the Institute of Medicine, 4000 IU is the safe upper level of daily vitamin D intake. However, doses up to 10,000 IU have not been shown to cause toxicity in healthy individuals"
