You shouldn't even have to ask this request of other human beings. I'm sorry on behalf of Actual Humanity that you did.

I wear a mask inside buildings that aren't my own, and when I'm in a crowd where I'm unable to social distance.

At the postal centers, if I see someone coming my way, I will turn my head down so as not to breathe in their general direction and if I'm done with getting my mail, will walk as quickly away from the boxes as possible. If I see that I have to pass someone to get away, I'll do it at a distance, OR I will (yes, I really will) go the other way, because 4 steps of inconvenience on my part might save the life of someone else, and I'm okay with that.
