Of course there will be lots of confusion. I was told just two days ago by my doctor's nurse that those that catch the virus and recover, only have antibodies for a couple of months or so. She also said that the vaccine will have to be implemented yearly like the Flu shot, because the immunity from the vaccination will wear off in a few months. I don't know where folks get their information or whether it is just speculation based on evidence or experience from the past. Right now, I am only concentrating on getting my spouse an appointment for her shots. I know that I will eventually be offered mine at the VA so I am not concerned. The ONLY reason for me getting my vaccination will be to protect my wife. If she gets hers and has the immunity, I will not be concerned about getting it or not. Like I have said before, I know at least 12 family members that have recovered from the virus and I am in as good or better shape than them and have never had the flu, so I have no doubt that if I do become infected I will survive. If not, oh well. I figure it like this, I have outlived the "sell by" date and have had a great life. No complaints. As far as I am concerned, if you are depending on others for your safety then you have never grown up. Don't depend on someone else for your safety, because even your shadow disappears in the dark. That means, if you are assuming that everyone else around you is going to look out for you by wearing protective gear and distancing themselves, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Take care of yourself.
But, on subject I am also disappointed that Sumter county seems like the only one that is not distributing vaccinations right now. I am also disappointed that it is very difficult to locate available sites that are giving shots and that when you do locate one, the are schedule full and have no openings. BUT, I am also confident that I just have to be patient and I will eventually get my spouse scheduled so that she can feel free to leave the house again.
We all need to have patience and strive to avoid panic and hysteria. There are those (even on here) that insist on passing on their miserable, negative attitude. It does not make them feel any better, but they seem to live by the "misery loves company" theme.
