This is lunacy.

The last time I checked, bills being submitted into the House are written by congressional staffers, and subsequently submitted by a member of the House as his/her work product. Now some hysterics want to turn a cartoon into a racial slur. How hypocritical!

I just checked this bill on the appropriate website (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquer...p/~bdHBYi:@@@P). The following facts stand:

1. The sponsor of the stimulus bill - the one who submitted it to the House for consideration - is Rep. David Obey (a caucasian).

2. There were 9 co-sponsors of the bill: 6 caucasians, 2 blacks, and one hispanic.

So, if one wants to say the monkey insinuates itself as the "official" author of the bill, that would be an insinuation that Rep. Obey is the brunt of the cartoon.

This is getting pretty silly....
