According to this data directly from the CDC the number of deaths had already increased by more than 20,000 by June 2020. The numbers fastboat provides, at least for 2020 deaths, appear to be incorrect.

Why do people insist on making claims without looking them up first, do they really think no one will check? Proof by emphatic assertion rarely works.
Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.
