THAT is not because of our leaders, THAT inability to respect the advice of scientists comes from those people who have not had rudimentary background in it for some reason. I remember in Junior High, the school nurse, perhaps sensing a candidate for medicine of some sort, explained to me at great length about germs, where they lived, what they did, how they prospered, how to keep them out and how to kill them. She showed me how to clean a thermometer back then by doing a circular wipe down with alcohol and cotton. I had received my Sabin/Salk vaccine early and the big round scar for vaccination for small pox and I was a Candy Striper, a young volunteer who helped out a few hours a week at Columbus Children's Hospital, and there were many people being kept alive in big iron lungs. It was heartbreaking. My own cousin spent three months there with Balbar Polio, but thankfully he mostly recovered. We cannot blame anyone but ourselves for stubbornness and selfishness and impatience to do what WE want to do...and we should not be critical of those who are prudent.
