Agree. Also, it is possible the 95% number is more like 60-70% when faced with the new virus mutations. So the idea is to get everyone vaccinated as soon as possible, because that gives the virus less of a chance to mutate. And in the meantime wear masks for the reasons stated above. If we can get everyone on board with that, we can defeat this thing. Scientists are exploring a booster shot to combat the mutations. Once we do that, scientists say we can reach herd immunity. This is better than letting people die to achieve herd immunity. It is estimated that if natural infection was used to reach herd immunity, in the US, 70% of the population would have to recover from Covid to halt the epidemic. If that many people were sick at once, the health care system would be overwhelmed. We've seen this happen in certain parts of the country. This amount of infection would lead to serious complications and millions of deaths, especially among older people and those with chronic conditions.
