When someone sees something successful and people enjoying themselves on a daily basis, they want to poke holes in it, usually because their own lives are not as contented. Jealousy is a negative term. People have a need to defend their choices. Our former neighbors a a bit under the snow right now. Tempted as it is I do not send them e-mails that it is about 70 degrees today.
Far as e-mails,"You guys are famous again," many most people do not realize when you send an e-mail, you make a lot of false assumptions. You do not know what else is going on for the person who opens the e-mail. They do not see your face as the words are delivered. You cannot sort of spin back if it is not read in the spirit it is sent.
I do not have many friends. My definition of a friend is someone who can tell you that you are being a fool and you are not offended but you reaction is I did not realize that.
A friend would tell you privately.
