So again, I'll re-post what I wrote on another COVID thread-----
Why does this idiotic rumor keep spreading????? Again, I challenge ANYONE to cite a reputable source for this nonsense.
Think of it this way-----why would all the "experts" be pushing the vaccines as the method of obtaining herd immunity and ending this pandemic if the vaccines did not confer immunity. Why spend billions on vaccines that only prevent "death" in the 0.3% of the people who would actually die from it. In fact, in a cold-hearted but social Darwinian model, why keep people who can spread the virus alive?
Yet , on just about every COVID thread, some yahoo pops up with the "the vaccine only decreases severity of illness and reduces the chance of death" Use your brains, please.

GE.....you know I value your expertise, but I'm sort of confused by this. Everything I have read about these mRNA vaccines states that no moderate to severe disease has been reported in anyone who has been fully vaccinated and has waited the two weeks after the second shot. In other words, it is reported that there have been no hospitalizations in people who have been fully vaccinated and no reported deaths directly related to the mRNA vaccines.
My understanding, which may be totally wrong so I'm referring to you for guidance, is that everyone who is vaccinated benefits from the mRNA vaccines in that they are protected from severe disease and death. I did not take those efficacy percentages to mean that 5% of totally vaccinated people have no protection at all and it is if they were not vaccinated at all. This statement dismays me.
I was eager to be vaccinated so I would feel assured that at least I won't die of Covid directly or even be hospitalized with severe disease. What you have said has dashed that feeling of security for me.
