You seem to be having difficulty with my post.

This entire thread exists to trash peoples' taste. That's why the first post, and several others, are criticizing the color of someone's house. If it's okay to trash a house belonging to someone you don't know, why is it not okay to criticize the decor of a house belonging to someone you do know?

Your oriental touches are great. I don't think they belong with blue walls and huge bulky furniture, or with cream or yellow, or that rug. They look like they belong in a whole other setting. You should put some Georgia O'Keefe prints on the walls of that room and maybe put the orientals in a den or study, with natural materials and colors for furnitures.

The only way I can figure out how to upload photos here is to give access to my google account gallery. I'm not going to do that.
I disagree with almost all that you have written about John's design choices.

I am having great difficulty with your post. Perception of good style is not a right, it is an educated privilege.

Many of us are on Facebook and people can see there what their style choices are. Some people are absolutely incredibly skilled at their choices of color use, placement and size. And others are not, but they live in their home and enjoy it. The use of primary colors and the use of certain styles of furniture painting require a lot of skill. Very few have it. But when the owners of the home and the designers of the room walk into that room it is joyful to THEM.
