OrangeBlossomBaby nailed it... Brooks are great sneakers (I wear them daily at the office), but they are not the end all...

Sounds like a Morton's Neuroma, but without an examination, I can't be sure... Radiating pain is usually not a symptom of a stress fracture...

Wider toe box, insoles with a metatarsal pad (a small protrusion across the ball of the foot), can all work.

If they don't, a cortisone injection or two can certainly help.

For really stubborn cases, surgery -may- be indicated...
