As a mailman, I experienced a similar pain when it was time to buy new shoes. I could barely walk and had to walk on the side of my foot to keep from getting the zinging pain from the ball of my foot down to the end of my longest toe. I always bought Rockie Athletics shoes that lasted me close to 2 years, walking a mail route everyday. Great shoes.
