There are two ways that diseases happen, one is genetic and the other is environment which includes what we put into our mouths and how active we are. The first part is very evident in people who abuse their bodies and never have any issues, a medical person says to them, you just have great genes. Who does not know the person that can eat pie and ice cream every night and never gain a pound. The other part is the person who has genetic tendencies and then eats and drinks all the wrong things and never gets off the couch. I was with someone in a recovery room who had stents put in after a heart attack and asked the cardiologist what is the best diet and he said vegan for heart disease. He was telling that to a person who was from TX and wanted meat and gravy every day. There is no magic pill but there may be someday soon genetic interventions that at least help part of it. A change of lifestyle and behavior is much more difficult, your behavior is set probably when you are a toddler and does not change unless you have a significant emotional event in your life and even that does not always change behavior.
