I installed a 750cc Briggs V-Twin Vanguard engine from a Bandelero race car. I used the stock transmission from the Club Car and a snowmobile front and rear clutch. Stopping was going to be a problem so I installed 4 wheel disc brakes, it really stopped great and had lots of torque. I did this before any kits so had to make some parts. Ran the engine into a stock club car muffler so exhaust was fairly quite. The most noise came from the air cleaner on the two barrel carb. I did this to a Streetrod so they have a longer wheel base and steered and drove nice

There are kits now available to install Briggs and Honda engines in golf carts. I have seen 4 cylinder motorcycle engines with transmissions installed and flip over backwards. Have fun with your project. At one time in my younger days I built a few race cars so could not refuse the golf car modifications
