All of the trials were 100% effective in preventing death. The vaccine’s promise is that it will prevent serious illness, hospitalization and death - not that it will prevent you from catching COVID. Aside from the variants not being included in the trials as mentioned above, no one has yet mentioned the most important factor you all appear to be ignorant of - the trials were done while MASKED AND SOCIALLY DISTANCED. The reason the vaccines have the high efficacy rates that they do is because THE TRIALS WERE DONE MASKED AND SOCIALLY DISTANCED. I’m fully vaccinated, I’m going to fly for the first time in over a year next week, I see friends in a small groups, I go out of my house, but I remain MASKED AND SOCIALLY DISTANCED because if you don’t the virus will just go and find a host and keep us all in this nightmare for even longer.
Vaccination status is not a pass to take off your mask and go and party in the square. Go to the squares if you so please, but know you are still at risk of catching COVID at the exact same rate that you have been for over a year. What you hopefully will not experience is serious illness, hospitalization or death. Oh, and when you go to the square WEAR A MASK AND REMAIN SOCIALLY DISTANCED because that is why the trial efficacy rate is as high as it is. Maybe y’all should actually read that paperwork you were handed when you received your vaccines because THE TRIALS WERE DONE ON INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE MASKED AND SOCIALLY DISTANCED. The vaccination status is only part of the story.
