You all know Edna Santana-Wales from her tireless work managing the Trump Headquarters in Brownwood. Edna asked me to forward the following plea for all poll watchers to attend the March 23rd Sumter County Commissioners Meeting at the Everglades Rec Center (5497 Marsh Bend Trail, Grand Canyon Room, The Villages, FL 32163). The meeting starts at 7:00 PM, but it’s best to get there early. Additional parking is available at the Publix strip mall next door. The public hearing for impact fees is the first topic on the agenda. After listening to the public’s input, the commissioners will then vote whether or not to raise the fees, and if so, by how much. If you would like to make a statement and you need some help formulating your ideas, contact me. I will be happy to help you so that all Republican voices are heard. There are a multitude of reasons why the Sumter County Republican Party opposes a massive increase in impact fees. Edna is spot-on. Oren Miller’s proposal of a 150% increase will be detrimental to economic growth and the future of Sumter County. Following is the link to the meeting agenda:

Subject: Please Attend the March 23rd Sumter County Commissioners Meeting and Let the Commissioners Know that Republicans are Against a Massive Impact Fee Hike

Folks, on March 23rd the Sumter County Commissioners are holding a public hearing after which they will vote on raising impact fees which will be applied to new construction for every single type of land use in the county. Oren Miller has proposed a 150% increase, but that has not been agreed upon yet. The exact increase will be decided in this meeting. We need to let these commissioners know how we feel about their efforts to increase the fees up to 150%. This massive increase will impact a number of decisions others are making about building and locating in Sumter County…including UFHealth’s plans of building a hospital complex. Jobs, growth, medical care and the future of Sumter County are on the line. Please attend the meeting on the 23rd at Everglades Rec Center. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. You can (and should) speak during the public hearing. We need to let them know there is a majority of folks who care about the future of our county. Let’s take a stand and let them know we do not want them to impact our future life style or home values. We know what works in Sumter County…let’s keep working together.

I will be there! Please join me!
