Are the Garmins perfect? No, we have never found a GPS that is and we have owned all brands, but they are decent. Certainly better than the units that came on our cars.
Our Honda Pilot came with the factory GPS which is Garmin. Just found out after three years that they give free map updates for 5 years by downloading from a PC to a thumb drive you plug into the Car. I sill like to have Waze loaded on the phone since it will tell you about police and other issues even if you don't have a route planned.
