Is 35K supposed to be worldwide?

In the US the number seems to be about 8K per year according to the CDC (2018 was higher). In 2020 there were nearly 9K deaths from the flu. 2021 is starting off much lower, likely due to masking and physical distancing including remote work and remote school.

Why do people insist on making claims without looking them up first, do they really think no one will check? Proof by emphatic assertion rarely works.
